Friends of Mandritsara – Volunteers

Welcome to the Friends of Mandritsara Trust (FoMT) website for volunteers.

The aim of the site is to help you through the process of completing the paperwork required for a DBS check and, where relevant, for a work permit and visa. We also provide you with lots of orientation documentation and useful information to make your stay there a good one.

We define volunteers as anyone going to Mandritsara under the auspices of FoMT and who works with Amis de Mandritsara (AM-FM) in the Good News project in and around Mandritsara, northern Madagascar. This includes: the Good News Hospital, the Good News School, the Voice of the Good News Radio, and the Mandritsara Bible Baptist Church. It also includes visitors, like elective students.

Our aim is to support the application process on-line via this website. This may seem rather daunting, but we are here to help and encourage all who go to Mandritsara!

Please (make a cup of tea or coffee and) take time to work your way through the site, step by step, and read it carefully. Problems tend to arise where the advice given here is not followed. It is worth reading through it all and then going back to step 1 (or 2).

First, it will be very helpful to us if you would complete the pop-up asking for your name, email address and phone number. The phone number will allow us to contact you quickly should the need arise. You filling this will also help us know who is not using the site and needs help to get started with preparation to go!

Second, please go to the “Steps to go” section. It may be that not all the steps apply to you – please check those which do, and select the appropriate link:

  • visitor or short-term student – do NOT need steps 3, 4, 7 or 9 – so click here.
  • short-term worker or someone going for more than 90 days – need to complete all the steps.

If you have any questions about how to proceed please email – thanks! (Temporarily the various message forms in this site are not working.)
